About Collegiate Advising

We guide high school students and their families through the undergraduate admission process with a comprehensive, personalized approach. Rooted in organization, reflection, and collaboration, our work supports every stage of the journey, from course selection and academic planning to essays and applications, while encouraging personal growth and thoughtful self-discovery.

Shannon Smith, Owner & Educational Advisor

Shannon has worked with college-bound students since 2002. Spending nine years in college admission underscored an enormous opportunity to represent higher education, on both the college admission and educational advising sides of the desk. Recognizing the value in collaborating with college applicants and their families, Shannon moved into college admission advising, a privileged profession that offers the opportunity to guide and support students as they explore their potential, their future, and the possibilities they will encounter.

Over the course of 15+ years of experience as an independent educational consultant, Shannon has crafted a philosophy rooted in balance, support and motivation. A teacher at heart, she has refined her approach, challenging students to enhance their communication and life skills so they may grow and find success in college and beyond.

Shannon is committed to supporting both students and their families as we navigate the college application journey together.

Shannon holds a B.A. in English and Anthropology from Bucknell University and an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Boston College. She is an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and former member of NEACAC, NACAC and OACAC.
